How Long Does It Take to Get an MPH in Public Health Data Science?
The MPH Public Health Data Science degree is a four (4)-semester program. Full-time students can earn their degree in less than a year and half on Monroe’s three-semester academic calendar.
Public Health Degree Requirements:
48 total credits*
- 21 credits of core public health courses
- 15 computer science credits
- Six (6) credits of research courses
- One (1) three (3)-credit capstone course
- One (1) three (3)-credit internship

Data Visualization in Public Health
Public health professionals are trained to interpret complex health data, but that’s often only half of the job. They also have to help others to see what they see. In this course, MPH candidates will learn how to use visual representation to communicate massive amounts of information. Using maps, charts, graphs, and other illustrations, students will learn how to use their findings to support data-driven decision-making.
Admission Requirements
Candidates for the Master of Public Health in Data Science Degree must fulfill the following requirements:
- Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution of higher education.
- Candidates must submit:
- A completed application for admission.
- A 500-word essay describing your career goals and why you want to pursue a master’s degree.
- A current résumé.
- Transcripts from all prior educational institutions attended.
- Two (2) professional letters of recommendation.
- MPH candidates must also participate in a pre-admission interview.
