How Long Does It Take to Get an Online MPH in Public Health Data Science?
We designed the MPH Public Health Data Science degree to be completed in four (4) semesters. When taken consecutively and full-time, you can finish your degree in less than a year and half.
Requirements for a Master of Public Health Online:
48 total credits*
- 21 credits of core public health courses
- 15 computer science credits
- Six (6) credits of research courses
- One (1) three (3)-credit capstone course
- One (1) three (3)-credit internship

*Depending on their prior education, some MPH students may be required to take a foundation course in Statistics Foundations.
**Per the terms of their student visas, international students must attend three (3) session days per semester in on-campus classes.
Research Methods in Public Health
Modern data science has given us powerful new tools to advance public health. But tools are only as effective as the people who use them. In this course, MPH candidates explore the principles and techniques of public health research. Students will learn different approaches to research design and data management; how to collect, analyze, and interpret public health data sets; and how to navigate ethical issues in research involving human subjects.
Admission Requirements
Candidates for the online MPH in Public Health Data Science must fulfill the following requirements:
- Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution of higher education.
- Candidates must submit:
- A completed application for admission.
- A 500-word essay describing your career goals and why you want to pursue a master’s degree.
- A current résumé.
- Transcripts from all prior educational institutions attended.
- Two (2) professional letters of recommendation.
- Online MPH candidates must also participate in a pre-admission interview.
