Why an Online Major in Accounting?
With an associate degree, your chances of finding employment go up by 25% over having a high school diploma alone. And when that degree is in accounting, you do more than enhance your value in the job market: you put yourself on the path to a rewarding, stable, and satisfying career.
There’s a real demand for professionals who know how to use accounting technology effectively. With our ACBSP-accredited program at the School of Business and Accounting, you can learn how to meet that demand. Your online accounting courses will feature the same expert faculty as our on-campus program. Not only are our professors leaders in their field, but they’re dedicated to seeing each and every student succeed. As they teach you the fundamentals of economics and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), they’ll also be a valuable support system throughout your academic journey.
If you have questions, they’ll be there to answer them, as they teach you career-focused skills that include:

The Online Module: Take 2 Classes in 7 ½ Weeks
At Monroe, we know our online learning systems are second to none. We also know that the idea of online learning can still be unfamiliar to a lot of people. That’s why we offer the online module. Over the course of 7½ weeks — just half the length of a regular semester — you can take two (2) online accounting courses. If online learning feels comfortable, you can continue toward the completion of your degree, either online or on campus.
Integrated Business Applications
For decades, Microsoft Windows has been the most commonly used operating system in the world, and the Microsoft 365 suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and more) remains the most popular collection of business applications. This course will teach Accounting students to integrate Microsoft applications in a Windows environment, streamlining their workflow and preparing them for today’s business environment.
Admission Requirements
Applicants to the online accounting program must submit:
- Either a high school graduation credential or high school equivalency diploma, or a recognized college associate degree or higher as listed in the transfer admissions policy.
- A completed application for admission, as well as a personal statement or essay.
Applicants also participate in a pre-admission interview.
