Online Curriculum
As on online Emergency Management major, you’ll have the chance to work with an experienced faculty of both active and retired emergency management workers. They’ll take you through everything you know to efficiently — and effectively — manage resources in every phase of a crisis, from preparedness and mitigation to response and recovery. You’ll have multiple opportunities to see how emergency management theories play out in real life. First, you’ll take part in a required 160-hour internship, giving you hands-on practical experience. You’ll also take a comprehensive capstone course that allows you to propose potential solutions to real-world problems.
How Long Does It Take to Earn an Emergency Management Degree?
The online Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency and Disaster Management is an eight (8)-semester program. If you study full-time, you can finish your degree in less than three (3) years.
Bachelor’s Degree Requirements:
120 total credits
- 45 credits of major-related courses (including required field experience)
- 75 credits of general education and related courses

Hazards & Risk Management
A feasible risk assessment plan can help mitigate the effects of disasters and other emergencies, saving lives in the process. In this course, students will take an all-hazards approach to creating and implementing risk management plans. Emergency Management majors will explore strategies to minimize the fatalities, injuries, and property damage that can result from different kinds of emergency scenarios.
Admission Requirements
All applicants to the Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency and Disaster Management must submit:
- Either a high school graduation credential or high school equivalency diploma, or a recognized college associate degree or higher as listed in the transfer admissions policy.
- A completed application for admission, as well as a personal statement or essay.
Candidates also participate in a pre-admission interview.
