Monroe’s progressive nursing option offers you a program that smoothly transitions through three levels of nursing studies in nine semesters over three academic years. You will earn a certificate in Practical Nursing (PN), an associate degree leading to RN licensure, and a BS in Nursing. This is a full time program.
YEAR 1: Certificate In Practical Nursing*
YEAR 2: Associate Degree In Nursing
YEAR 3: Bachelor of Science Degree, Nursing Major
*Candidates who are already Licensed Practical Nurses may enter the program directly at the associate level with additional admissions requirements.

The Curriculum
The nursing program at Monroe is a challenging mix of courses in anatomy, chemistry, pharmacology, and healthcare. You’ll take several liberal arts courses, too. Your professors will be with you every step of the way – their goal is to see you succeed!

Culturally Competent Care in Community Health & the Role of the Professional Nurse
A mix of classroom and clinical learning. Past students have had clinical experiences in New York, Pennsylvania and Haiti. Assess the physical environment and resources in the community and provide appropriate interventions for the clients.
Application Process
An admissions advisor will guide each applicant through the required steps:

- Submit the required documents
The School of Nursing Admissions Committee will evaluate the submitted application and documents and provide timely notice of its decision. Those who are accepted will complete the financial aid process and are subject to a background check and a physical exam.
