"During high school, I was given the opportunity to enroll in Jumpstart, Monroe’s free college credit program," says Ashley Melecio. "Thanks to Jumpstart, I graduated high school with approximately 18 college credits from Monroe. I started full time in Fall 2017.
"The environment at Monroe is AMAZING. I took full advantage of each professor’s availability and the entire hands-on, engaging Monroe community. Monroe has prepared me to become a more confident, determined, and self-sufficient adult. Monroe has also provided me with an abundance of opportunities, such as an internship at the NYC Department of Probation. The Monroe community hasn’t just been a school for me, but a home when my actual home was not."
Because of all the college credits she earned in high school through the Jumpstart program, Ashley earned her BBA in just two years. “I am hoping to further my education with Monroe and eventually pursue a career in correctional psychology,” she says.
