Corey Cush
“The skills and experiences I gained at Monroe were instrumental in shaping my path forward.”
Corey joined the military due to financial constraints that prevented him from attending college. He used the Montgomery GI Bill to enroll at Monroe!
Corey graduated in 1992 with an Associate Degree in Computer Science. Corey received a job offer and focused on obtaining multiple certifications in the IT field. He then returned to Monroe in 1997, completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems.
On top of his full time schooling, Corey worked, was in the National Guard, and raised his three children. All of his degrees from Monroe put Corey in a great position within the IT world. He started working on the technical side of IT and then later transitioned over to management roles. Today, Corey is working at Borough Manhattan Community College as a Chief Information Officer. Recently, Corey earned his Master’s in Information Systems and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Enterprise Technology from Syracuse University through their executive program.
As an adult student, Corey felt that Monroe was extremely accommodating and helpful in his journey to success in both his academic and professional career. He continues to maintain contact with his Monroe family.
In order to give back to the community, Corey focuses on helping other Monroe alumni reach success. Through the past 10 years, Corey has hired at least 12 Monroe graduates and also provides internships to Monroe students. His advice to other students is to set a goal and stick to it no matter what.
