Geannaby Hernandez
“Going abroad to Italy was an unforgettable experience!”
Geannaby Hernandez came to Monroe to further her education in the hospitality field. She credits Monroe as truly helping her elevate her baking business. Here, she was able to take on more of the business challenges and not just the baking.
Throughout her college years she came across so many opportunities at Monroe. Her absolute favorite was when she attended the study abroad program for several months in Italy! She describes it as the most amazing experience. Being able to go to Italy to learn about their gastronomy and be immersed in their culture was an unforgettable experience.
Geannaby graduated from Monroe in 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management. After graduation, Geannaby began working as an Interventionist as Practice Makes Perfect. Shortly after, she became the manager of an Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar location in the Bronx while also working as a Substitute Teacher through the NYC Department of Education.
Geannaby always wanted to find a way to give back to her high school's culinary community. Today, she was able to make that happen as she now works as a Hospitality/Baking & Pastry Teacher at Harry S Truman High School. In this role, helps students prepare for the many opportunities she was afforded by attending Monroe!
