Kacey Bernard

Take advantage of every opportunity presented to you. Never say no.

Inspired by a college presentation in Dominica by the Monroe President and the positive experiences shared by her cousin, Kacey decided to continue her education at Monroe in April 2015.

The transition to life in New Rochelle was significant, but living with family during her first year provided a smooth adjustment. By her second year, she moved on campus, embracing the full college experience. To take advantage of campus opportunities, Kacey became a Resident’s Assistant. She not only enjoyed free housing and meals but also honed her organizational skills by planning activities for residents. This role pushed her out of her reserved nature, fostering invaluable social interactions.

Despite her limited background in the field, the supportive professors and engaging curriculum at Monroe solidified Kacey’s interest in accounting. A standout class with Professor Gilmore sparked her passion for working with taxes.

Her academic excellence and proactive involvement led her to become a tutor in the academic center, reinforcing her knowledge by helping fellow students. Additionally, Kacey's leadership as the President of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) opened doors to numerous opportunities, including her ability to attend conferences where she secured two internships. These internships provided invaluable experience and ultimately led to multiple full-time job offers from prestigious firms such as Deloitte, PwC, and Ernst & Young (EY).

Kacey graduated in August 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, and shortly after, began her career at EY. A few years later, Kacey chose to give back to the Monroe community and make a difference in high school student’s lives. She chose to leave the accounting world and become an Admissions Advisor. After working as an Admissions Advisor for a few years, Kacey chose to continue her accounting career at KPMG. Now, Kacey has returned to EY and works as a Senior Tax Associate in the Global Compliance Reporting Group.
