Lashley Winter
“I learned how to better communicate, write, and network, all of which has helped me to grow in the music world.”
Lashley “Motto” Winter is the producer, chief executive, and founder of his own music label, Team Fox Music, which specializes in soca, reggae, and African music. He was born and raised in St. Lucia, but always dreamed of coming to the U.S. to continue his education and advance in the music industry.
It was his first dream – to be an Olympic track star – which earned him a scholarship to Monroe. He joined the track team as a long distance runner....and set a school record as part of the 4x800 relay team that placed fifth in the 2014 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
"I've always been into music, and decided to study information technology so I could learn the ins and outs of computer software," he says. He uses the skills learned daily to create his one-of-a-kind beats and do video editing.
Lashley credits Monroe with helping him develop into the professional he is today. “I learned how to better communicate, write, and network, all of which has helped me to grow in the music world,” Lashley said.
Lashley was recently recognized by New York State senator Jesse Hamilton for his dedicated work and efforts in spreading Caribbean music and culture around the world.
