Saint Lucia Campus Prepares to Celebrate Local Graduates at Commencement

For the last 15 years, Monroe University has proudly educated students from the Caribbean and elsewhere at our campus in Saint Lucia. We have long held a special affinity for the country and are proud to call our location in Castries home.

While our local graduates there are welcome to join us at Commencement each June at Radio City Music Hall, we have traditionally held a separate ceremony each October on the island that is presided over by Marc Jerome, President of the University; Dr. Karenann Carty, Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Services; and Dr. Alex Ephrem, our Senior Vice President with responsibility for Saint Lucia campus operations, among others.

Our Saint Lucia Commencement will be held this year on Sunday, October 16th at the beautiful Royalton Resort and Spa in Cap Estate, Gros Islet.

Joining the Class of 2022 will be earlier graduates who were unable to have an in-person Commencement due to safety protocols during the pandemic. Some of our international students who attended the New York campuses but were unable to attend Commencement in New York last June will also be participating.

The ceremony will start promptly at 2:00 pm. Graduates are kindly asked to please be on site and ready by 1:30 pm.

The date had originally been scheduled for the following week. The new date was announced earlier this month due to an unavoidable scheduling issue.

Participating students may reach out to Aritha Emmanuel with any Commencement-related questions or concerns. She can be reached at aemmanuel@monroecollege.edu or 758-456-3221.

Monroe established its Saint Lucia campus in 2007. The campus, located on Vide Boutielle Highway in Castries, offers students a broad array of degree programs through its Schools of Allied Health Professions, Business and Accounting, Criminal and Social Justice, Hospitality Management, and Information Technology.

The University has also operated the International Hospitality Training Institute in partnership with the Saint Lucian government to prepare local residents for entry-level hospitality positions with cruise ships, hotels, resorts, and restaurants.

We look forward to celebrating our graduates on their very special day next month!
