School of Business & Accounting Hosts NYC Council Member Andy King

On May 1st, the School of Business and Accounting was honored to host NYC Council Member Andy King and several other distinguished guests for an important townhall held in observance of Three-Fifth Clause Awareness Day. The annual event is designed to bring awareness to language in the U.S. Constitution that denied slaves full personhood for the purposes of population counts. Instead, they were only counted as three-fifths of a person. The “three-fifths” language was subsequently addressed by amendment. Council Member King and others advocate that it be fully removed from the Constitution.
