School of Nursing Holds End-of-Semester Pinning Ceremony
The University held its end-of-semester pinning ceremony today for School of Nursing graduates at the Greentree Country Club in New Rochelle.
It was a lovely affair as graduates’ family members and friends joined us to celebrate this significant milestone in their student’s nursing career.
Dean Layla Qaabidh presided over the event, with President Marc Jerome and Dr. Karenann Carty, Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, making welcoming and congratulatory remarks.
The pinning ceremony is a time-honored tradition in the nursing profession. It marks the individual’s transition from nursing student to member of the professional nursing community.
During the ceremony, the students received their nursing pins from a member of the School of Nursing faculty. It is worn on their uniform as a proud sign of their commitment to the nursing profession.
The ceremony then moves to the lighting of the Florence Nightingale lamp, which is meant to represent the passing of the nursing torch from one generation to the next.
Congratulations to all who participated in today’s ceremony! You have worked incredibly hard to get here and we are incredibly proud of you.
We know that you will make Monroe proud as you enter the nursing profession, equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and compassion to make a difference.
