Sophia Facey is a luxury travel specialist and owner of Dream Vacations. She received an associate degree in computer science from Monroe in 1996, then went on to earn her bachelor's and master's degrees elsewhere in NY.
Sophia worked in the financial industry until the markets crashed in 2008. It was then that she decided she would pursue what she truly enjoyed - the field of travel.
This Jamaican native said helping people has been a driving force in shaping her career since participating in a work study program at Monroe’s recruiting office. There, she had the opportunity to meet with future students at school fairs and visits. “I loved supporting students and helping them discover their dreams,” she said. “Now, I’m helping others find the beauty of travel as the owner of my own travel company.”
Sophia also credits Monroe for the unwavering support shown her as a young working mom. Having a free day care for students with young children “was a game changer” and allowed her to get her degree, she says.
