Tyler Johns
“Get involved in charity cooking events, such as the New York Wine and Food Festival. You'll meet a ton of people in the field.”
When his high school in Tucson, Arizona, offered cooking classes, Tyler Johns decided to try them out and was immediately hooked. He fell in love with cooking and even had the chance to participate in some culinary competitions on a national level.
It was at one of those competitions where he met Dean Frank Constantino, who sparked his interest in Monroe – enough so that Tyler packed his bags and traveled across the country to enroll.
Tyler graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business management with a focus in Hospitality Management in 2020. His ultimate goal was to become the general manager of a resort one day. Directly after his time at Monroe, Tyler became the Pool House Manager at The Patterson Club. Now, he is working as a cook for the New York Giants.
Tyler recommends participating in charity cooking events, such as the New York Wine and Food Festival hosted by the Food Network, which aims to end childhood hunger and seeks volunteers with a culinary background to assist chefs. He emphasizes that these events are excellent for networking, meeting many people in the field, including celebrities. He encourages all his friends in culinary arts to engage in similar activities.
