Clinical Practicum Programs
Working directly with patients takes skill, compassion, and care. It might mean calming a person in distress while focusing on the technology you need to do your job.
Our clinical practicum programs prepare you through natural and health science courses, medical terminology, and a series of labs that give you hands-on experience. Earning your allied health degree at Monroe teaches you the skills you need to be a patient and competent medical professional.
Diagnostic Medical Sonography (AAS)
Work with highly sophisticated, non-invasive ultrasound technology to create detailed internal images of the body that assist physicians in making diagnoses.
Medical Assisting (AAS)
Medical assistants work to conduct a mixture of administrative tasks and clinical duties, such as updating medical records, taking a patient’s vitals, or scheduling appointments. These individuals are often the first health care professionals a sick person sees.
Surgical Technology (AAS)
Surgical technologists work with nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgeons in the operating room by prepping, assisting, and cleaning the room for surgery. These health professionals strive to maintain a sterile and organized environment for all patients.
Non-Clinical Programs
The School of Allied Health Professions’ non-clinical programs encompass degrees that involve a focus in administration, communication, and technical skills. Non-clinical health care professionals work behind the scenes to provide community health information and assistance in roles such as medical billing and coding, health care administration, or technician services.
Allied Health Science (AS)
The allied health sciences span a wide range of professions, such as dental hygienists, physical therapists, or health administration. This degree is an excellent starting point for students looking to find an entry-level role in the health care industry or for students who are looking to lay the foundation for a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
Medical Administration (AAS)
Do you enjoy communicating? An Associate Degree in Medical Administration allows you to handle customer relations by performing administrative tasks, utilizing electronic health records, and interpreting medical coding.
Health Services Administration (BBA)
Work behind the scenes of allied health to maintain a smooth operation for health care facilities. A Bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration allows you to give back to your community as a social worker, coordinating health care manager, or hospital care investigator.
Community Health and Wellness (BS) (Formerly Public Health)
Looking to become a health care leader? Community Health and Wellness majors work on promoting the well-being of the individuals within their community. Earning a Bachelor’s degree in Community Health and Wellness leads to positions such as health educator, community health worker, or community health researcher.
